2 Floor Plate Options
3/8″ Standard OR 1/8″ Low Profile
The 1/8” thick Low Profile floor plate option is the most popular for high traffic areas. It does require 1 extra step during installation. A shallow recessed hole in the floor, below the center hole, only 3/8” to a 1/2” inch deep to receive the locking handle. Nightlock® Lockdown 1 is a high-strength door barricade designed to secure classrooms, offices, and safe rooms during emergency lockdowns and active shooter events. Engineered for both inward- and outward-swinging doors, it adds an additional layer of protection to traditional door hardware. Positioned at the floor level, it is out of reach when the door glass is breached.
Locking Handle and Wall Box
The NIGHTLOCK Lockdown’s Locking Handle can be conveniently stored in a secure location in the classroom by the teacher. A handy Wan Box ts provided With each unit and can be anywhere in the classroom quick access to the handle in case of a Lockdown Event. The handle is RED for easy visual bating. Most schools prefer positioning the wall box near the door or at the teacher’s desk.
Release Tool
For use by ( police, fire and administrators ) A Release Tool is available to unlock the barricade device from outside the classroom, or safe room, incase it is needed. You should have one available in each building. We recommend having the Release Tool kept in a secure location such as the administrators office. 1 Release Tool for each building is included FREE with your lock order. The same Release Tool works for both the Nightlock Lockdown 1 and Nightlock Lockdown 2.
NOTE: All though codes vary from State to State. You must obtain approval to use and install a Door Barricade Device from your local code officials.
Extended Handle Version
For doors with wide thresholds, such as exterior doors. The Extended Handle version accommodates up to a 4” threshold. It is Model #16003 ( with the 3/8” thick floor plate ) or Model #16004 ( with the 1/8” thick Low Profile floor plate ) Retail Pricing for the Extended Handle Version is only $5.00 more per unit.
The Extended Handle model comes with a slightly larger storage Wall Box.
The Door Bolts ( Binding Posts ) are fire wall compliant. They go all the way through the door, with a tamper-resistant rounded head on the outside of the door. They are adjustable to fit doors 1-3/8” to 2- 1/4” thick. The Floor Plate Screws are 2” long and come with cement anchors for installing on tile and cement floors. All fastening hardware is included with locks.
If installing the Low Profile 1/8” thick floor plate model, an extra shallow 3/8” hole is needed beneath the floor plate. Use a 1-1/4” Diamond Grit Hole Saw, which is available for purchase for $8.00 each, from Nightlock. You can see installation videos at www.nightlock.com

What if an intruder breaks a classroom door window and reaches in to unlock the existing door hardware?
NIGHTLOCK Lockdown is mounted at floor level, out of reach of the intruder.
When not in use, where do I keep the removable barricading handle so it’s safe & readily available?
A wall box is provided to hold the handle. Mount in a secure place near the classroom door or teacher’s desk.
How can police or administrators unlock the Nightlock Lockdown from the outside the classroom if needed?
A special tool is supplied and available to release the device from outside the classroom.
What if a student gains access to the barricading handle and engages it to lock the teacher out?

Are NIGHTLOCK Lockdowns easy to install?
Yes, Typical installation takes 20-30 minutes. The door screws are actually Binding Post- Architect bolts. They go all the way through the door and bolt into a tamper resistant, rounded head binding unit. They are adjustable to fit 1-½” to 2” thick doors. The floor plate screws are 2” long and come with cement anchors for installing on tile, carpet or cement floors. Cutting a small piece of the carpet out might be necessary before drilling floor plate anchors. All fastening hardware is included. CLICK for detailed instructions. We do offer installation service. Is this accepted by Local or State Fire Codes?
Some State Fire Marshall’s approve devices like Nightlock Lockdown. Most lockdown policy procedures for classrooms include “Barricading the classroom door,” with items such as desks or furniture. Many Fire Code Officials are now applying a variance in the codes to allow temporary Barricade devices for emergency events. The variances include that they are portable/removable, have a tool to release the device and/or be defeated by Law Enforcement or First Responders.
